I had a great time at the Triathlon --- in spite of a stress fracture -- which turned into two fractures.
It poured rain that day on and off --- cool and wet. Swim was actually a little foggy right on the water, so the first few waves of swimmers were off course right at the start. We did better as the last wave --- we had seen everyone else go off course. I actually started to veer off at the last buoy turn, and was redirected. Swim went well for me -- good time.
Got out, transitioned to bike without much effort -- put on a shirt which is tough when you are wet -- I did not use a wetsuit -- I don't own one yet. I skipped wearing sunglasses --- it was raining and gray. Bike was pretty fast -- though I think I was a little cautious on the turns because of the rain which actually hurt a few times when speeding into the raindrops.
Hubby was out on the bike course which was really neat -- so he routed me on out and back.
After the bike I was going to walk the final leg -- 5K -- but I started walking and my foot hurt a little, so I tried a slow jog. Actually did not feel that bad, so I ran the rest of the distance. Besides I figured I would be the last person in if I walked it --- it was a fast crowd -- so I ran it. Got quite a surprised look from hubby when he saw me at the finish line running in. Then he asked if I ran the whole thing. --- told him pretty much yes. I was so excited that I finished without too much pain that it didn't matter about the second fracture.
It did bother me when we got to Hawaii -- my foot. But who cares, we were in Hawaii!! I swam a lot while we were there and tried to stay off of my foot as much as possible.
